So long Delhi days, hello Rishikesh

I needed to get a bite to eat in the morning and came across this big daddy grapefruit

Class started right away

And here's a typical day on the Ganga in between classes

Here I am crossing the Ganga on the early morning of our arrival

We took a squashed and highly uncomfortable bus to Rishikesh

And so long to the dirty city

I said good bye to my Delhi buddies too

My friend Natahna arrived in Delhi.

The roads make me crazy. My friends just freeling run on through. I only like to go if I have a body on the vehicle facing side of me so I have protection.

This guy made us the yummiest spicy warm bean salad. He did everything so efficiently and with such care. It cost about 50cents.

This is the edge of the area where we are staying. Those little green and yellow cabs (along with the bikes, cows, cars, etc) go barreling by all over the place. I am constantly on guard so I don't get hit or run over.

This is where we went for some delicious chai tea. The little chai tea stands are all over the place. The tea is extremely hot and delicious. It comes in glasses so you just take a minute and sip the tea and hang with the locals.

Here I am cruising the streets last night looking for a bite to eat. We came across a very fat cow.

These are the Austrian guys who saved me at the airport. They're hilarious and like to tell me to calm down.

and i forgot to mention

i'm finding all of this pretty hilarious

I have arrived!

I have arrived in India. The airport was intense. Everyone was staring at me and there was no sign with my name on it. I was hassled by all sorts of men. So I linked up with a few foreigners, two guys from Austria and a girl from France. We all hopped a cab right to an area called Pahar Ganj. It was about 2:30am. The roads were crazy and there were random things going on everywhere. We got out of the cab and it was pouring. The area we are staying has all these winding alley's and twisty roads. Everyone walks around and the vehicles, bikes, cows, etc., as they push through the crowds. I am writing really fast and choppy cause I want to get out of this internet cafe. Everyone is staring at me and I am ready to seek shelter again :D.

I am currently staying at a hostel that costs about 4 dollars a night. It has a bed and a light, but I don't know about the water situation.

I will write more when I am able to digest these experiences a bit better. For now I'm pretty blown away.

Happy Birthday to me!

India Awaits!

I'm on my way to India on Tuesday.
I don't know how often I will get a chance to update this blog but I will do my best.

I will land in Delhi on my own at 1:30am on my 27th birthday.

I have arranged for someone to pick me up from a hostel in an area called Pahar Ganj. The place is called the Smyle Inn. I hope I will be smiling :D
